Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about how CiteCue tracks your brand in AI answers, and what's included on each plan.
General
What is CiteCue?
CiteCue tracks how AI engines like ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity answer the questions your buyers actually ask, so you can see whether your brand gets mentioned, cited, and recommended — and fix what's keeping you out of the answer.
Why doesn't my brand show up in AI answers?
That's exactly what CiteCue measures — most brands start with low visibility. Citations shows whose content the AI trusts instead, and Content Fixes turns the gaps into concrete, prioritized actions. Improving takes real content work, and repeat scans show whether it's paying off.

How do scans work?
A scan runs every prompt you're tracking through the AI engines on your plan, using live web search — the same way a real user would ask — then records the full answers and every source they cite. Scans usually finish in a few minutes and run in the background.
Which AI engines does CiteCue check?
CiteCue can check ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Mode, Google Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, Grok, DeepSeek, Anthropic Claude and Google AI Overviews. Which ones run for your account depends on your plan — Enterprise covers all of them.
How does the visibility score work?
Visibility is a single 0–100 score per scan. How often your brand is mentioned carries about half the weight, your share of citations roughly a third, and the rest is how often your own pages get cited directly.
What do citations mean, and why do they matter?
Citations are the sources an AI engine points to when it answers — your pages, competitors' pages, and third parties like review sites and forums. CiteCue tracks who gets cited, how consistently, and ranks each source's influence so you know where to focus.
Do I get anything for free without running a scan?
Yes. CiteCue audits your site every day on every plan, Free included, whether or not you run a scan — it checks whether AI crawlers are allowed in via robots.txt, whether your llms.txt is live, whether your sitemap is discoverable, and whether your page markup reads cleanly (title and description, accidental noindex, heading structure, html lang, image alt coverage), plus whether AI referral tracking is in place. It doesn't spend your scan allowance, so your readiness panel is never staler than yesterday.
What is Agent Usability?
Agent Usability sends an AI agent to try real tasks on your site — like finding pricing or contacting you — and reports exactly where it gets stuck. It's available on the Agency plan (12 runs/mo).

Which plan do I need to actually fix things?
Every plan finds the gaps and ranks them into a prioritized queue. Free and Starter show you the ranked queue and the daily site audit, but not the drafted fix. From Pro ($89/mo) up, CiteCue also writes the fix for you — AI fix kits — and one-click AI Auto-Fix serves the optimized page to AI crawlers at the edge, with no deploy and no developer. It includes 25 AI fix kits a month, 25 AI answer pages per project and 10 page rewrites a month.
Is there a free plan?
Yes. The Free plan covers 1 brand project with manual scans (5/mo, no scheduled cadence), 15 prompts per scan, and Gemini coverage — no card required. The daily site audit and a shareable audit report are included.
How does the free trial work?
Starter has no trial and starts paid, month-to-month, from day one; Pro comes with a 7-day free trial; Agency comes with a 7-day free trial. Cancel any time during a trial at no cost.
What's on the Enterprise plan?
Enterprise is a custom, contact-us tier for teams that outgrow Agency: unlimited projects, continuous monitoring, SSO and white-label reports, API + MCP access, and dedicated support and onboarding. Reach out and we'll scope it with you.
Which AI engines are covered on each plan?
Free covers Gemini. Starter covers ChatGPT. Pro covers ChatGPT, Gemini. Agency covers ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity. Enterprise adds every engine we support: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Mode, Google Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, Grok, DeepSeek, Anthropic Claude and Google AI Overviews.
